What’s New

NEXUS 6.9 introduces a range of new features and enhancements, delivering significant updates across various modules to ensure better performance, enhanced functionality, and greater ease of use. Key highlights of this release include:

  • NEXUS IC changes:

    • Improved grid functionality

    • Better search and filtering functions

    • Better memory of grid settings and the ability to transfer user profile settings between users

    • New and improved features for dashboards, asset information management, workpack management, planning, and inspection functionality

    • Refined permission settings

    • You can now extend several system tables with additional fields. This will add an Attributes tab in the corresponding create/edit dialogs, where users can fill in the new custom fields.

    • New and enhanced configuration options

  • IC-Inspector is now available for Android tablets. Further key enhancements include improved management of ad hoc tasks and events, optimised synchronisation, as well as enhanced settings and task management.

  • For IC-Web, several improvements are available, including enhanced functionalities for grids, maps, charts, and multimedia.

  • A new Software as a Service (SaaS) authentication model with Single Sign-On (SSO) will be introduced later in this release.

For a detailed description of changes, see the sections below.

NEXUS Applications

Software as a Service (SaaS)

In this release, we are introducing a new SaaS authentication model that supports Single Sign-On (SSO) with your company user account. This will also allow you to access NEXUS applications directly through a web browser via a single link, providing seamless access to all available applications. SaaS customers currently using RemoteApp will be gradually migrated to this new solution. An official announcement will be sent once the new solution is available.

For more information, see Software as a Service (SaaS).

External Tools and Calculators

Integration with auxiliary applications extends NEXUS IC capabilities:

  • ECE: Closer integration with Wood’s Electronic Corrosion Engineer (ECE) Web API and Data Historians (PI) to calculate real-time corrosion rates based on live process data. This update also facilitates the estimation of cumulative corrosion and the determination of corrosion profiles along the length of pipelines and tubing strings.

  • FFS: Integration with Wood’s Fitness for Service (FFS) Web API application enables API 579 calculations. This application is fully compatible with the Static Pressure Equipment (SPE).

  • Well Barrier Schematics: Connection to Wood’s well barrier schematic generator tool, which enables the creation of well schematics directly from your well asset tree.

Upgrade Warnings

  • After the upgrade, all user profile settings in the application will be reset.

  • System table extensions previously requested through change requests will revert to the default state. These custom fields will now appear on the Attributes tab of the corresponding create/edit dialog. Please ensure that all references to these custom fields (for example, from reports, functions, or shortcuts) are updated.

  • By default, all three-state checkboxes have changed as described above. If you want to retain a three-state checkbox, you must change the default control for that specific field.

  • Drawings now display only the first page of any multi-page PDF files. This provides a better and more consistent user experience. We recommend reviewing your database for multi-page PDF drawings and splitting them into individual files before upgrading. Please note that any marked-up layers on subsequent pages will need to be recreated.

  • v1.0 REST calls are no longer supported. If you have used v1.0 REST calls in building connections to external systems, you will need to update those connectors to use the v2.0 REST commands. Note that changing passwords in IC-Web will no longer be possible.

SQL Server Support

Version 6.9 officially supports Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and newer.

Version Upgrade Information

To simplify our code, version 6.9 only includes the ability to upgrade from version 6.7 or 6.8. If you are running an older version (v6.6 or earlier), backup your database, upgrade to 6.8, then upgrade to 6.9.

If you’re upgrading from 6.0, 6.1 or 6.2, see this note about SQL Server permissions.
