Data Connectors
NEXUS offers a robust REST API library designed to facilitate seamless connection to external data sources. Using external connectors provided by Wood, organisations can efficiently integrate their systems, ensuring smooth data exchange and enhanced operational workflows.
External System Connectivity
NEXUS IC provides a diverse range of external data connectors, each tailored to connect with specific types of external systems. These connectors enable integration with the following types of external data sources:
Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as SAP, Maximo, Oracle
Digital Twins, for example, Open Wells, Wellview, EDM
Digital Data Collection (tablets, import data)
Data Lakes, for example, sensors, sampling, historians
Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)
Visualisation Tools, such as GIS
Dashboards (Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau)
Calculation Engines (FEA Engines, FFS Analysis, ECE)
Data Connector Types
NEXUS supports a flexible integration model, allowing data connectors to be aligned with specific stages of the asset integrity management lifecycle. Each stage can be associated with connectors designed to handle particular data types, enabling targeted and efficient data exchange with external systems.
The diagram below illustrates the main workflow stages and examples of data connector types that can be integrated at each point:
These connectors are intended to support the flow of structured data between NEXUS and external platforms, enhancing the precision and efficiency of asset integrity processes.
For further details on connector design and implementation, refer to the relevant documentation sections.
Accessing Data Connectors
NEXUS data connectors are available as subscription-based services. Developed and maintained by Wood, each connector is part of an off-the-shelf framework that can be tailored to fit client-specific systems and workflows.
Wood handles the setup, configuration, and ongoing support, ensuring smooth integration with minimal effort from the client. Connectors can be deployed in the cloud or on-premises, depending on operational needs.

Integration Architecture
Connection to NEXUS through third-party software can be performed using the REST API, which provides the capability to read, add, edit, or delete information within any NEXUS database.
NEXUS IC is cloud-based and hosted on Wood’s provided Azure data centres. Connection to NEXUS is facilitated through the provision of a dedicated ‘REST User’ account with an API key. This secure setup ensures that data exchange is reliable and efficient.
To facilitate ease of integration and alignment with external systems’ workflows, NEXUS offers an enhanced automation core connector service with a dedicated REST endpoint to NEXUS. This service can also be deployed on client premises to support transition over client firewalls when required.
The diagram below demonstrates the different ways client systems can connect to NEXUS:
