Asset Views

Asset views allow you to organise and present assets in different ways. You can isolate asset trees from one another, display only a filtered list of assets or arrange assets to suit a particular purpose. When multiple asset views exist, you can switch between them using the Asset Views toolbar menu wherever the asset tree appears.

You can maintain asset views on the ASSETS screen of NEXUS IC using the Asset Views toolbar menu.

Creating an Asset View

Choose Asset Views ‣ Add to create a new asset view. Enter a name and a descriptive comment for informational and reporting purposes. After creating the view, you can build its asset tree using the standard asset tree maintenance steps (see Maintain Asset Trees and Asset Nodes).

Editing an Asset View

Choose Asset Views ‣ Edit to update the properties of the currently selected asset view.

The Edit Asset Views dialog also includes a Permissions tab where you can manage access to the asset view:

  • Add a user or user group to grant permission.

  • Delete users or user groups if you need to remove their access.

Deleting an Asset View

Choose Asset Views ‣ Delete to remove the currently selected asset view.

Note

Deleting an asset view will delete all assets contained within that view, regardless of whether those assets exist in other asset views.

Examples

The following examples show typical ways asset views can be used to organise assets.

  • Create an asset view titled “Subsea” which contains all subsea assets. Create a second asset view titled “SPE” which contains all topside Static Pressure Equipment assets. Using separate views makes it easier to work with subsea and topside equipment independently.

  • Create an asset view titled “Pressure Relief Devices” which contains only the PRD assets that already exist in the “SPE” view. In this example, the PRDs are Linked from the SPE asset view rather than duplicated. This provides a focused view of PRDs while keeping their original position in the SPE asset tree.

  • If required, you can create additional asset views that contain selected assets from existing views. For example, you may create a temporary view for a specific review or reporting activity by linking only the assets relevant to that task. Linked assets remain part of their original asset views.
