Add/Edit Model Element Dialog

The Add Model Element and Edit Model Element dialogs are used to create and configure risk model elements while setting up risk models (see Configure Risk Models).

Only fields on the Element tab are available when creating a new model element. The remaining tabs become available after the element has been saved and subsequently edited.

Self-explanatory fields are not described below.

Use this tab to define the basic properties of the model element.

  • Name: Specifies the name displayed for the element in the risk model.

  • Comments: Optional text that provides additional information about the element. In the risk model editor, this text is displayed in the Description column.

If the model element is a field-based element (that is, a Value, Calculation, or Pass Thru element), additional sections are displayed:

  • Field Definition: Contains the field definition settings for the element. Available parameters depend on the selected field type and correspond to those on the Field Definition tab of the Edit Field Definition dialog (see Add/Edit Field Definition Dialog).

  • Validation: Select Required to make the element mandatory. The risk assessment cannot be completed unless the element has a value.

  • Function: Available only for Calculation elements. Assign a function to the element by clicking the ellipsis ellipsis in the field and choosing a function from the list.

This tab controls how the element is displayed in different modes. The available settings correspond to those on the Field Layout tab of the Edit Field Definition dialog (see Add/Edit Field Definition Dialog).

Displays the change history for the model element. See Checking History.
