Configure Providers

Providers and connections allow NEXUS IC to exchange data with external data sources, such as Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server databases and Excel workbooks.

Configuring an external connection consists of three steps:

  1. Configure a provider (see Setting Up Providers).

  2. Configure an external table connection (see Configure External Tables).

  3. Configure field mappings (see Configure Field Mappings).

Setting Up Providers

You configure providers on the Providers screen (Configuration ‣ General ‣ Providers).

Providers define the connection details required to access an external data source.

To create a provider:

  1. Open the Providers screen.

  2. Click Add on the toolbar.

  3. In the Add External Provider dialog, enter a descriptive name for the provider (for example, MAXIMO).

  4. Select a provider type.

    Supported provider types include Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Excel.

  5. Specify the connection details required by the selected provider type.

    For example:

    • Oracle Easy Connect string for Oracle databases.

    • Server address, database name and authentication details for Microsoft SQL Server databases.

    • Full file path for Excel workbooks.
