Findings Listing

As with the Event Listing, the Findings Listing grid lists all Findings associated with the events based on the currently applied filters. Primary filters are:

  • Asset;
  • Workpack; and
  • Event Type

The number of events in the grid (based on the current filters) is displayed in the Findings Listing tab title.

Tip

The asset hierarchy is pivotal to the Inspections screen as all data will be filtered by the currently selected asset. If the Child Assets toolbar button is not in the “Down” state, then only events recorded on the selected asset will be shown (eg. events on child assets will not be listed).

A finding record has a Code, a Severity ranking, Reason (descriptive text) and Remedial Action (descriptive text). Upon review, if the you deem that the Finding should be escalated to an Anomaly, then you should check the Anomaly Required field, and choose an Anomaly from the list and linked to the Finding. If you click the Add button on the Select Anomaly dialog, the new anomaly will have the asset, code, and various other fields pre-populated for you.

Properties of a Finding

  1. Event - The Event which this Finding is connected to.
  2. Code - Code which identifies the type of Finding. These are the same codes that are used to classify Anomalies. Some typical codes may include “CD”, “PD” or “VIB” (Coating Damage, Physical Damage or Vibration); however, anomaly codes are user-definable and can be configured from Configuration ‣ Anomalies.
  3. Severity - Choose from a list of pre-defined Severity Levels. Typical severity levels may include “Level 1 - Contributor”, “Level 2 - Degraded”, “Level 3 - Damaged”, “Level 4 - Danger” and “Level 5 - Extreme Danger”; however, severity levels are user-definable and can be configured from the Configuration ‣ Anomalies area. These are the same severities that are used to classify Anomalies. Anomaly severities can also be assigned to Anomaly Triggers.
  4. Reason - Text field. Size unlimited.
  5. Remedial Action - Text field. Size unlimited.
  6. Anomaly Required - Check this box if this Finding should be linked to an Anomaly.
  7. Anomaly - Anomaly that this Finding is linked to. This field only appears if Anomaly Required is checked.
  8. Anomaly Trigger - If this Finding was automatically generated by an Anomaly Trigger, that trigger is shown here.
  9. Is Auto Generated - True if this Finding was automatically generated by an Anomaly Trigger.

Report Table Sources

To extract Finding data into a report template, use the System Table titled Finding as the primary Table Source, or use the System Tables titled Event or Anomaly and then add fields from the Finding table. For more information see Report Templates.

The Grid

By default, the Findings Listing grid displays columns which are common to all Findings. In order, the first two columns in the Findings Listings grid represent:

  1. V = The presence or absence of Video for the event recorded at this date/time.
  2. M = The presence or absence of Multimedia for this event

Right clicking on any of the events in the Findings Listing grid will pop up the Findings menu.

Hint

To bulk update (or delete) events, use the Multi-Edit functionality.

Tip

The Findings Listing grid performs a check whenever the filtered data set is updated, when it detects there are only events of a single event type, the properties of that event noTEPAD ++(the event data) will be displayed as additional columns in the Findings Listing grid.
